More posts

I’m changing the format a little and will use my blog, The Lamp & Light Post, more to teach about the Bible. This will not only enable me to be more spontaneous but also cover more material more frequently. I’ll be doing this instead of the weekly Bible Study for now.

The Sunday videos will continue to live on YouTube. My notes will be posted as my sermon notes to the blog, additionally, my thoughts that will eventually be my sermon notes, will also be posted separately. An example* of this is given at the end.

If you have any questions, please use the “comments” section on each post to ask them. I will answer them, and everyone will benefit from that.

I do not want to use Facebook or any such platform for this, and WhatsApp is for chats. I’ll post links in Sundara Vārttā whenever I can, as usual. No registration is needed to read The Lamp & Light Post, but to avoid spam, you will have to register to comment/ask questions. So register as soon as possible.

I believe this will be beneficial to you in the long run. I’ve already started posting content relevant to the main topic for this year: Grace of God.

*Example
In the Hellenistic view, “spirit” is typically considered the immaterial, divine part of a person, often associated with reason and higher thought, while “flesh” represents the physical body, often seen as the source of base desires and limitations, with a strong emphasis on the spirit being superior and the flesh being inferior to it; essentially viewing the body as a vessel for the true self, the spirit.

Though similar, the Biblical view differs. The Hebrew idea of personality is that of an animated body; a body endowed with life, not like the Greek, that of an incarnated soul, a soul that has taken on a physical form, or body, on Earth. (The term “incarnate” means to be the embodiment of something, and the process of incarnation is when a soul attaches to a body.)

Biblical words like heart, soul, spirit, and flesh simply present different aspects of the unity of the personality. The living soul is the total person.

Genesis 2:7 KJV And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Remember the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
