Prayer was not just an occasional occurrence in the lives of the disciples; it was an integral part of their lives. They knew what a powerful force it was and depended upon its power for everything. When they needed God’s direction, they prayed. When they needed God’s provision, they prayed. When they needed protection and deliverance, they prayed. When they needed doors to open for the Gospel, they prayed. The believers prayed from house to housel. They prayed in the Temple, in prisons, on mountainsides, on riverbanks, and wherever they went. When they faced persecution and death, they prayed in the dark cold catacombs.
