The Son of my Right Hand

  • Genesis 35:24 (NKJV) the sons of Rachel [were] Joseph and Benjamin;
  • Judges 21:17 (NKJV) And they said, “[There must be] an inheritance for the survivors of Benjamin, that a tribe may not be destroyed from Israel.

Benjamin was Jacob’s youngest son, from the woman he truly loved. Though Joseph was his elder brother, Joseph’s wife was Egyptian. I could not find the name of Benjamin’s wife, but we can safely assume that she was a full blooded Israelite.

Imagine this lineage and the bloodline as a source of pride for the clan of Benjamin. Was this the reason that they were almost destroyed?

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
