Numbers 24:7 (NKJV) He shall pour water from his buckets, And his seed shall be in many waters. “His king shall be higher than Agag, And his kingdom shall be exalted.
If the Masorites have corrupted God’s Word because it was used by Christians, then Agag is really Gog in this verse.
Gog:
- The Greek Septuagint (c. 200s BC);
- the Samaritan Pentateuch (c. 100s BC);
- The Dead Sea Scrolls (c. 100 BC);
- Greek Aquila (c. 140 AD);
- Greek Theodotion (c. 150 AD);
- Greek Symmachus (c. 100s AD);
- Old Latin (c. 100-300s AD); pre-Vulgate
Agag:
- Hebrew Masoretic Text (c. 100-900 AD).
- The Latin Vulgate (300s AD) also has Agag, but it is dependent on the Masoretic Text, so this is irrelevant.
Why is this important?
Ezekiel 38:16-17 (NKJV) 16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” 17 Thus says the Lord GOD: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them?
It has to do with the latter days.
Revelation 20:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
Plus, if Man has indeed corrupted what God has said, I want to know what God really said.
