hen Satan entered into Judas, called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve. Luke 22:3 MEV
Why does the Bible put it that way, that Satan entered into Judas? Was this the opportunity that Satan sought after Jesus’ temptation? Was there an open door in Judas’ life through unbelief and rebellion that invited Satan? I think yes, in both cases, but as often is the case when it comes to Bible study, there is more!
He said to them, “Now, as you enter the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you there. Follow him into the house which he enters, and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ They went and found it as He had told them. So they prepared the Passover. Luke 22:10-11, 13 MEV
Again, how was Jesus a teacher to the owners? It sounds like Jesus had a talk with them earlier, but no amount of talk would have enabled Jesus to predict the man carrying a pitcher, only a revelation from our Heavenly Father can do this.
For I tell you, I will never eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Luke 22:16 MEV
This makes me happy because we will be able to enjoy food in our resurrected bodies.
But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have repented, strengthen your brothers.” He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you fall into temptation.”Luke 22:32, 46 MEV
Indeed, that our faith may not fail. Jesus never fails. Repent, strengthen the brethren. First of all, pray.
And Peter went outside and wept bitterly. Luke 22:62 MEV
Peter denied the Lord, and was repentant and remorseful, but the difference between him and Judas was that he understood that Jesus was more than a mere man. Jesus prayed that his faith would not fail. It takes faith to understand that.
They all said, “Are You then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You truly say that I am.” Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it from His own mouth.” Luke 22:70-71 MEV
Don’t let the meaning of what the Lord said either be lost in translation or misunderstood because of ignorance of the Old Testament.
And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this Man perverting our nation, and forbidding us to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ a King.” So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered, “You truly say so.” Then Pilate said to the chief priests and to the people, “I find no fault in this Man.” Luke 23:2-4 MEV
Two lies and a truth, yet Pilate picked up on the truth and questioned Jesus about it. Could it be that he was seeking the truth himself, but was hindered by his position in life, his ego, his so called knowledge till he came face to face with the truth Himself? If so, are we any better? Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
On the same day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, having previously been at enmity with each other. Luke 23:12 MEV
“Amicus meus, inimicus inimici mei” (“my friend, the enemy of my enemy”), in other words, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The light side vs the dark side, there is no balance if that requires a compromise. Like i have always said, drop Jesus in the middle, the murky waters will part, and there will be no confusion as to whose side who is on. Selah!
But they insisted with loud voices, asking that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed. So Pilate gave the sentence as they demanded. Luke 23:23-24 MEV
Is this the plan of God being fulfilled or is Pilate compromising despite knowing the truth, or is it both? I believe that both can happen.
Two different men, who were criminals, also were led with Him to be killed. When they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they divided His clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:32-34 MEV
Take the high road, always! Psalm 15:4.
The people stood by watching. But the rulers with them scoffed, saying, “He saved others. Let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the Chosen One of God.” And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him and offering Him sour wine, saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.” An inscription was written over Him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Luke 23:35-38 MEV
Christ to the Jews, the king of Jews to the gentiles; the Savior of the world.
God set us up in the kingdom of the Son (Jesus) He loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.
We follow Jesus and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels-everything got started in Jesus and finds its purpose in Him.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was God Himself who was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, Jesus “body”, He organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body.”
while the sun was darkened. And the veil of the temple was torn in the middle. Luke 23:45 MEV
The moon did not give up its light, and neither did the stars fall from the sky. Upon taking this thought further, could the sun represent the devil and the consequent power held over humanity through sin, the moon represent Islam, giving up its false reflective but duplicate light in the end, and the stars be Elohim who have fallen? Selah!
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices they had prepared. Luke 24:1 MEV
Very early at 11oclock? Oh, these were morning people, I see. Stupidity, I tell you. God our creator has a schedule, follow it. The Holy Spirit is a Spirit that brings order into our lives.
As they were afraid and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? Luke 24:5 MEV
A good question if you ask me.
He said to them, “What kind of communication are you sharing with one another while you are walking and are sad?” Luke 24:17 MEV
I see God’s sense of humour in this question. Many times I have noticed that the things that I may have said as a joke turns out to have a profound meaning in the hands of God.
As He sat at supper with them, He took the bread, blessed it and broke it, and gave it to them. Luke 24:30 MEV
Only the hosts have the privilege and the right to break bread in those days.
Then they reported what had happened on the way, and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread. Luke 24:35 MEV
They reported to others. Communicate, testify of what the Lord has done. Give Him glory.
He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Luke 24:38 MEV
The crux of the matter is that even the disciples doubted the Lordship of Jesus the Christ
And while they yet disbelieved for joy and wondered, He said to them, “Do you have any food here?” Luke 24:41 MEV
One of the first things I’ll ask when I get to heaven!!! After meeting Jesus and some others, or better yet, I’ll invite all of them over for a meal and enjoy true fellowship. Oh yes, I’m looking forward to that. Reminds me of this song. https://youtu.be/CQFlz5xqZgA . Though this version is by Mike Farris, the song Ain’t No Grave was written by Claude Ely, a songwriter and preacher from Virginia, while sick with tuberculosis in 1934 when he was twelve years old.
Then He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He blessed them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. Then they worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen. Luke 24:50-53 MEV
Amen.
