The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Acts 1:1 MEV
Some say that Luke and Acts were paralegal documents. Whatever they may originally be, I am glad they’re there, and what is important is that this is Luke’s testimony.
to whom He presented Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, appearing to them for forty days, and speaking concerning the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3 MEV
To them, but Savior of the world. To them according to 2 TIMOTHY 2:2.
For John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:5 MEV
Both Covenants fulfilled. Jeremiah 4:4
They said, “Men of Galilee, why stand looking toward heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you to heaven, will come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11 MEV
He will come again. Yay!!!
These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. Acts 1:14 MEV
What united them? What made them act as one? Both women and men? The hunger for the Lord. Psalm 42:7, Psalm 104:33-34 Psalm 105:1-8 NKJV Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! [2] Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! [3] Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! [4] Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore! [5] Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, [6] O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones! [7] He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. [8] He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,
Then they prayed, “You, Lord, who knows the hearts of all men, show which of these two You have chosen Then they cast lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. So he was numbered with the eleven apostles. Acts 1:24, 26 MEV
Weird, they prayed, a good thing to do, but they cast lots! Only if what was meant by Jesus about the promised Holy Spirit was clearly understood. Then casting of lots would not have been necessary.
Matthias is not mentioned again, and indeed no arm of the flesh can glorify the Holy Spirit. Galatians 3:3
and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Acts 2:4 MEV
There is a want for the Holy Spirit’s enablement today, for us to walk in the true power over sin and the satanic. True Christinity is never ever powerless.
‘In the last days it shall be,’ says God, ‘that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.Acts 2:17 MEV
The beginning of the Last Days leading to the End Times which are fast approaching.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes. Acts 2:20 MEV
That great and glorious day is in our future. Till then, work we must, even with that which is in our hand, for the Lord, for His kingdom. The choice is ours. No excuses will stand when we meet Jesus.
And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Acts 2:21 MEV
That must be made known; evangelised, pastured and taught freely and truthfully.
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth was a man attested to you by God with powerful works and wonders and signs, which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves know. For David has not ascended to the heavens, yet he says: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, “Therefore, let all the house of Israel assuredly know that God has made this Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”Acts 2:22, 34, 36 MEV
The good news for all ethnicity; for all nations.
They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers. Acts 2:42 MEV
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers. The only scope for improvement that I see from the early church, apart from constant revelation of the Lord, is what is categorized as prayers. We see a Holy Spirit led breaking away from the Jewish prayers rituals to the fulfilment of the promise that we, the true belieivers, will worship in Spirit and Truth; the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Selah!
And continuing daily with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 MEV
Daily, from house to house. Because we think the location has evolved in these days, has other things been stolen from us in the process? Where is unity? Where is the gladness of heart now? Indeed, Paul warned about being robbed of the simplicity in Christ.
The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son ¬Jesus, whom you handed over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. Acts 3:13 MEV
His Son Jesus, that says it all. The laws of even physics were broken in His name because we were given His authority.
God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to you first, to bless you in turning every one of you from your iniquities.” Acts 3:26 MEV
First, God sent prophets, finally, he sent His Son Jesus.
