Day 59
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14 MEV
I found meaning in this action called deliverance by Jesus from the power of darkness to be my defence, for sin truly has no power over me. However, the sad truth is that since God does not coerce us, we have a will that can and will override this every time unless we are firmly established in the Word of God. It really doesn’t matter how mature we think we are in Christ. If you love the Lord, you’ll hate evil. Psalm 97:10 NKJV You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. We have to keep renewing our mind. Hide the Word in your heart.
and to reconcile all things to Himself by Him, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him, I say—whether they are things in earth, or things in heaven. Colossians 1:20 MEV
Our Father is no longer an angry God because Jesus paid the price for His wrath by His blood of His cross. This is the reason that there is salvation in no other name.
To them God would make known what is the glorious riches of this mystery among the nations. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory, whom we preach, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present them perfect in Christ Jesus. Colossians 1:27-28 MEV
This verse reminded me of the hope that I have, the strength to teach, and the revelations of wisdom from God in Christ.
Now this I say lest anyone beguile you with enticing words. Colossians 2:4 MEV
It starts with crafty words, deceitfully cunning, even fooling the speaker. Beware!
As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, and abounding with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7 MEV
There is comfort and joy in being in right-standing with God. Not only that, to walk in Him by faith provides all the adventure we can possibly handle. Start by thanking Him for anything and everything.
buried with Him in baptism, in which also you were raised with Him through the faith of the power of God, who has raised Him from the dead. Colossians 2:12 MEV
Jesus is the author of our faith Hebrews 12:2. The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead Romans 8:11. This gives a deeper meaning and understanding to faith in the power of God, who raised Jesus from the dead.
and not supporting the head, from which the entire body, nourished and knit together by joints and sinews, grows as God gives the increase. Colossians 2:19 MEV
It is the increase that God gives that makes us grow. Psalm 75:6-7 NKJVFor exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. [7] But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.
Day 60
‘If you then were raised with Christ, desire those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. ‘ Colossians 3:1 MEV
This means that we can choose to desire. Too many times, a decision is made where flesh wins, but we need to desire the things which are above.
‘Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth. For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life shall appear, then you also shall appear with Him in glory.’ Colossians 3:2-4 MEV
It is impossible to set our hearts and affection on things above unless we see ourselves as dead and our lives hidden with God, and all that Jesus Christ will return soon. We have to contend with our sin nature in the flesh, therefore we need to spend time with God, renewing our mind, and praying in the Spirit.
‘Bear with one another and forgive one another. If anyone has a quarrel against anyone, even as Christ forgave you, so you must do. ‘ Colossians 3:13
This is a principle that is vital.
‘And whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. For you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will receive for the wrong which he has done, and there is no partiality.’ Colossians 3:23-25 MEV
This is a plumb line (Amos 7) for me.
‘Continue in prayer, and be watchful with thanksgiving, while praying also for us, that God would open to us a door of utterance to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may reveal it clearly, as I ought to speak. ‘ Colossians 4:2-4 MEV
I too covet your prayers for the same reason.
‘Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you. ‘ Colossians 4:14 MEV
Demas, be careful of people like him. (2 Tim 4:10)
Psalm 124:1,8 NKJV
[1] “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,” Let Israel now say- [8] Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
