Exodus 24:8 NKJV And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the LORD has made with you according to all these words.”
About 1,500 years later, our Lord Jesus Christ took a cup and said the same thing. He was initiating the New Covenant, which I’m a part of. The difference is that it represented His blood which was shed for us on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins, to reconcile us to God, our Heavely Father.
Luke 22:20 NKJV Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
Exodus 24:12 NKJV Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”
I’ve always thought that these tablets were just the 10 commandments, but given that God gave Moses the blueprint of the Tabernacle, I’m not certain now. I imagine all the law and commandments would have required many tablets,, making them heavy and thereby difficult for Moses to carry alone. Perhaps God enabled him supernaturally, perhaps I need to study this more, and I hope to get around to it.
