Exodus 28:33 NKJV And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:
When Joel, my youngest, was small, he used to say “pommeblanket” for pomegranates. They symbolize the blessings of God, and feature in the Hebrew tradition more than I realized. Like many things, I know they mean more, but I remember pommeblanket and the need for His blessing.
Proverbs 10:22 NKJV The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Exodus 29:4-7,9 NKJV “And Aaron and his sons you shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall wash them with water. [5] Then you shall take the garments, put the tunic on Aaron, and the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the intricately woven band of the ephod. [6] You shall put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. [7] And you shall take the anointing oil, pour it on his head, and anoint him. [9] And you shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put the hats on them. The priesthood shall be theirs for a perpetual statute. So you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons.
Exodus 29:14 NKJV But the flesh of the bull, with its skin and its offal, you shall burn with fire outside the camp. It is a sin offering.
Exodus 29:35 NKJV “Thus you shall do to Aaron and his sons, according to all that I have commanded you. Seven days you shall consecrate them.
All this had to be done in order to consecrate Aaron and his sons. This is just the start, for a lamb had to be sacrificed in the morning and another one in the evening; all so that they can meet God and have Him speak to them. This is all because of how much humanity had fallen after the “original” sin.
In John 1:29 we read that when John saw Jesus coming toward him, he said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”, and in 2 Corinthians 5:18 the Apostle Paul says that “God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation”. God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21), that He can be our Father in Heaven.
