After Jacob the Melchizedekian priesthood split into three parts.
† The kings of Israel would come through his son Judah,
1. King David was a descendant of Judah.
2. The prophet Samuel was a Ephraimite, a descendant of Joseph 1 Sam 1:1
† This was to continue until the Messiah would come and reestablish the Melchizedekian priesthood.
3. That is the reason Jesus is not a priest modeled after Aaron.
† He was modeled after Melchizedek.

Adam can be seen as the first Melchizedekian priest.
