Jesus: Our Faithful Friend

There is an old hymn that goes like this: “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!” We all are blessed to know Jesus as our faithful friend. The Bible tells us that God is love and from His abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.(1 john 4:8, John 1:16)

God willing, The Father’s House Church Cochin plans to showcase the love of Jesus as a faithful friend through a very unique program to the orphans and the elderly in our vicinity.

This program will include dramatization of Biblical stories like “The Prodigal Son”, “The Parable of the Two Sons”, but where all the actors in this children’s show are trained dogs.

Dogs are known as “man’s best friend”. This catchphrase originated in a courtroom in Missouri in 1870, when the lawyer defending a farmer suing his neighbor for shooting his dog “Old Drum” said in his closing speech, “The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.” The phrase was later shortened to “man’s best friend”.

We intend to show to these little hearts we have in Jesus a friend who is even more faithful, who will never ever desert us.

But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

Not only that, even if their father and mother forsakes them, our Lord Jesus will never abandon them. (Psalm 27:10)

The program will involve

Dramatization of Biblical stories like ‘The prodigal Son’, where the dogs are the actors.
A Dalmatian as Santa Claus.
A delightful pet-fashion show put together by PetMe. PetMe offers customized clothing and accessories for pets, and is owned and operated by member of the church.
Christmas choir by our own children.

Each orphan will be given a gift package as another token of God’s love for them.

All of the above will be sprinkled with testimonies of people conducting the program and intermingled with sharing of truths revealing our heavenly Father’s heart from the Bible.

Peter and the Apostles stated that “Jesus is alive, we are His witnesses, and so is the Holy Spirit”. This in short is what we are doing. By the end of the program, the Holy Spirit shall witness and demonstrate to all that Jesus Christ is indeed alive, that He a Faithful Friend, and more; that He is Our Good Shepherd.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1)

We have tentatively confirmed this program to 125 orphans in Jena Seva. God willing, we will be reaching out with God’s unconditional love to more.

As it is Christmas season, we are planning a public program as well. This show will be free and will be held in venues like Panampilly Nagar and Choice Park in Cochin.
